LR Serie - wichtige Daten zur Wartung

Habe ich beim S2 Club gefunden

Ignition timing (static for 90-95 octane RON fuel)

(note RON octane values are higher than the older octane numbers given in LR manuals, 95 RON is about the same as the old 90 octane rating). You therefore may find your 2.25 petrols (8:1 CR) run better nearer to 3 degrees BTDC.)

    2 litre 10oBTDC
    2.25 litre 7:1CR 6oBTDC
    2.25 litre 8:1CR TDC
    2.6 litre 7:1CR 2oBTDC
    2.6 litre 7.8:1CR 2oATDC
    S3 V8 3.5 litre 0o (TDC)
    101 FC V8 3oBTDC

    Timings for poorer quality fuel:-

    2.25 litre 7:1CR
    80 to 85 octane = 3o BTDC
    74 to 76 octane = TDC

    2.25 litre 8:1CR
    90 octane = TDC

If your fuel value is not listed, then you can follow the trend and set the static timing accordingly and "tune" to suit local conditions...

Set at engine idle speed of 500 ±50 rpm

Valve clearances (hot or cold unless otherwise stated)

2 litre petrol inlet 0.010" hot
    exhaust 0.012"

    2 litre diesel inlet 0.010"
    exhaust 0.010"

2.25 petrol or diesel inlet 0.010"
    exhaust 0.010"

2.6 litre petrol inlet 0.006" hot
    exhaust 0.010"

    S3 V8 3.5 litre N/A uses hydraulic tappets
    101 FC V8 "

Points gap: all 0.014 to 0.016" (0.375 to 0.400 mm) or a strip of an coke or beer can folded in half!

    Firing order 1,3,4,2
(No1 plug lead is the outlet pointing closest to No1 cylinder)
    Distributor turns Anti-clockwise

    6-cylinder engine: 1,5,3,6,2,4
    8-cylinder engine: 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2

for low comp 7:1 CR 2.25l engines Lodge CLN-H
    or

for high comp 8:1 CR 2.25l engines

or Champion N12Y in LR parts manual
    or
    NGK BP5ES, Bosch W8DC, Denso W16EP-U

    S3 V8 engines Champion N12Y
    or
    NGK BP5ES, Bosch W8DC, Denso W16EP-U

101 FC V8 (short reach, projected nose) Champion L92Y or NGK BP5HS

For all 6 cylinder engines Lodge HBLN
    or
    Champion N5
    NGK BP6ES, Bosch W7C, Denso W20ES-U

Lodge plugs were originally specified by Land Rover for the early models, but they went out of business and stocks have all but run dry, Champion would be the next "nearest" equivalent for later 2s and S3s.

Or any other manufacturers equivalent of these. (Please check with your supplier for suitability in your engine)

All plugs gapped at 0.032" (0.813mm), if using electronic ignition gaps can be opened to 0.038 to 0.042" or as manufacturer advises. V8s at 0.025" (0.635 mm).

    Compression Ratios

    1.6 litre petrol = 125 psi
    2 litre petrol = 125 psi
    2¼ litre petrol
7:1 low comp head = 145 psi at cranking speed (300 rpm) engine warm, throttle open.
    8:1 high comp head = 160 to 170 psi
    2.6 litre (6-pot)
    7:1 low comp head = 140 psi
    7:1 forward control = 158 psi
    8:1 high comp head = 170 to 175 psi
    Series 3 V8 = 135 psi

This data is for new engines, just run in. Allow for worn/high mileage engines.
Note it is far more important for the value for each cylinder to be within 10% of the others than achieving thye "book" pressure.

    Oil filter

    2.0 litre Petrol
Element is AC FF24 LR pn: 246262
    gasket is 246261
small gasket AC 1530635 and there are 2 of them, 277611
rubber washer for centre bolt, AC 1531098, 269889

    2.0 litre Diesel
    Element is AC FF50, 248530
gasket for filter AC 1530250, 272839
rubber washer for centre bolt, AC 1531098, 269889
Filter bowl is 1.5 litres capacity, so allow an extra 1 litre of oil, the rest for the filter.

    2.25 Petrol & Diesel engines
Early models used a longer filter element - 6 13/16"
original part no: 248863, Unipart no: GFE144 and current LR number RTC3185
    original AC number: ACFF50
(you'll note that this is the same as used by the 2.0 litre diesel)

From March 1963, engine number suffix D onwards used a shorter element - 4 5/8"
original part: 541403, Unipart no: GFE130 and current LR number RTC3184
    original AC number : AC72

    Oil capacities

The sump is 11 pints (6 litres) note you need to add and extra 2 pints for the long filter bowl and 1 pint for the later short filter bowl.
Oil changes (once the engine has been run in) are every 3,000 miles and the filter should be changed every 6,000 miles. If you are operating in arduous conditions replace the oil more frequently. If your vehicle only does a low annual mileage then replace the oil before laying up for the winter.

    6 cylinder petrol 12 pints (6.81 litres)
    S3 V8 = 9 pints (5.1 litres)

The best grade of oil to use is any good branded multi-grade oil rated at 20W/50.
Synthetics and "light" oils will tend to leak more easily.

Differential oil capacity (std. LR 4.7 ratio) 3 pints (imp) or 1.75 litres, front & back, EP90 grade or equivalent. Salisbury diffs use 2.5 litres/4½ pints.

    Gearbox 1.5 litres/2¾ pints - use EP90 or EP80W90 GL4 spec

    Transfer box 2.5 litres/4½ pints, EP90

    Overdrive 0.425 litres/¾ pint of EP90

    Swivel housing 0.6litres/ 1 pint of EP90

    Radiator/cooling system capacity
2 litre petrol or diesel = 17 pints (9.65 litres)
2.25 litre petrol or diesel = 18 pints (10.23 litres)

You will need to add a litre or so more if you have the optional heater fitted.

    Series 2 & 3 2.625 litre (6 pot) = 20 pints (11.36 litres)

Series 3 models (4 pot) with the round top radiator (could be retro-fitted to a Series 2)
    Petrol = 8.1 litres
    Diesel = 7.8 litres

    S3 V8 = 22.5 pints (12.78 litres)

Fan belt size for 2.25 engines is 1050mm circumference. (This number will often be included in the manufacturers ref number.)

    Antifreeze mixture ratios

25% mix gives protection down to - 11 deg C
33% mix gives protection down to - 17 deg C
40% mix gives protection down to - 23 deg C
45% mix gives protection down to - 29 deg C
50% mix gives protection down to - 35 deg C

(Note: The coldest ever recorded temp in the UK was -27.2 deg C in Scotland and -26.1 deg C in England.)

Use only the blue glycol based antifreeze for all Land Rover engines. The modern OAT (pink) antifreeze is not suitable for these older engines and don't mix these two types.
The minimum mix should be 33% for peace of mind, unless you live in the North or in the mountainous areas of the UK where 50% is recommended.
We recommend you replace the coolant after 2 winters in the vehicle and that you only use coolant mixture to top-up the rad between times. Only use water for the cooling system in an emergency, replace with correct mix ASAP.
Use this mix the year round as it contains inhibitors to stop rust and scaling and lubricants to protect the water pump and hoses.
Dispose of waste antifreeze/coolant responsibly, glycol based antifreeze is very toxic.
